Recoloring a Picture
If you insert a Microsoft Windows Metafile (.wmf file) from the Clip Organizer,
you can convert it into a drawing object. If the picture is a bitmap, .jpg,
.gif, or .png file, it can't be converted into drawing objects and ungrouped.
You also cannot change the color on animated clipart because animation contains
many frames.
How can you tell what format a picture has? First you must find the clipart
in the Insert Clipart Frame. Click the arrow pointing down and select Preview/Properties.

This will open the Preview/Properties dialog box shown below.
Notice the name property has the file extension .wmf. This is a window metafile.
This picture can be recolored.

- Insert the Microsoft Windows Metafile onto your slide.
- Right-click the Clip Organizer picture you want to modify and click Edit
Picture.
- Click Yes when the message box appears. The message reads "This is
an imported picture, not a group. Do you want to convert it to convert it
to a Microsoft Office drawing object:"
- On the drawing toolbar, select Ungroup.

- Click off the picture, then click back on different parts of the picture
to recolor.
- Recolor the selection using the fill or pattern by clicking the fill button
on the drawing toolbar shown below:

- When you have gotten the desired results, click off the picture.
- While holding down the left mouse key, draw an imaginary square around
the picture to select all the ungrouped parts.
- Following the steps above, click draw on the drawing toolbar, then select
Group.
